 | Introduction to Hungary | |
Hungary, lying in the Carpathian Basin, offers many different sceneries in every season. On a total surface of 93.033 square kms, this country boasts thermals springs, navigable rivers and although the highest mountain only reaches 1014 metres, innumerable possibilities for trekking (the first trekking society was founded in 1869) on almost 10.000 kms of marked trekking trails including the famous 'Blue trail' rounding the country on 2.600 kms.
But there are many other possibilities besides trekking: road and mountain biking, horseback riding, canoeing programs are made more colourful by the rich historical and cultural heritage found all around the country. Whether small, untouched villages, historical countryside towns or the bustling capital of Budapest, Hungary will enchant you.
You can make a tour of the country with a rented Trabant visiting charming towns, cross one of the mountain ranges on foot resting in remote, small villages, visit the world-famous wine regions by bike or ride around in lush green forests on noble horses. And if you like, add a couple of days in Budapest, capital of thermal baths, historical memories but also a bustling, vibrant metropolis. |
